The Ghostess with the Mostest

After spending weeks looking for the right round sunglasses and oversized hat for Coachella, I have alas found them, two weeks too late. Nonetheless I found what I was looking for and I think I might form a great relationship with this hat. It is often hard for me to find a hat that fits my head, either they sit on the back of it and blow off in the wind or I am constantly fussing with the dang hat because it feels like it is going to fall off. Thus, this hat was godsend for my abnormally large cabasa (it's my extremely round face and insanely large brain).

♫ She Stuck a revolt pin in her hat and called it ~*wasted youth*~

All jokes aside, Betelgeuse is the man and there's no denying that. There is also no denying that buying a mystery grab bag of shirts is scary yet also exciting. Remember those mystery bags of "girl" toys and "boy" toys at the Dollar Tree? Well A. I always bought the boy grab bag (because I have identity issues with admitting that I am actually girly) and B. When I was told that Blood is the New Black offered the same deal but in a big kid version, I dove at the opportunity. And lucky for me, the deal was five "boyfriend" fit tees for $25, meaning that I didn't exactly have to choose girl or boy, I got a mixture of both. Out of the five shirts I only loathed one, it had a butterfly on it, sorry (foot in mouth grimace face).  The other four were artistically inspired, intrigued me photographically, or were just plain funny. And ever since these wonderfully scoopy loose tees came in, I have had them on a constant day to day rotation. I wouldn't lie, they're fantastic. Take the gamble yourself, you won't regret it. (Even as I return to the website to get the link I am tempted to do it again). What in the hell are you waiting for, do it

It took weeks for me to shoot some photos I liked and it took a few more weeks for me to finally edit them. Here's what came out.

Second Skin Legacies

Levi's are jeans made for the doers, the go getters, the pioneers, and the creators, which is why the 501 remains a classic. They are my jeans of choice because through wear and tear they seem to become a part of you, whether handed down or thrifted or even if they remain your own through the years, they become beloved. I worked at a clothing store for a few months and my favorite part was helping these men find their favorite pair of Levi's that they had been wearing for years. Some were looking for a younger fit, and others were barely ready to hand over their shredded jeans. Even if I offered to donate their old jeans for them, they couldn't bear to part with their 501's or 505's. It was precious. Now as I wear my dad's old 501's I feel like I am carrying on their legacy, their years of travel, leisure, and yard work.

After cutting his jeans into shorts and cuffing them I have found the best part about these revamped 501's is their fit, they are giant on me. I'll be honest, usually they hang on my hips as a relaxed boyfriend fit which I love, but in this case I used my Grandma's sunflower engraved belt to cinch them, making their versatility their next best quality. I plan on keeping these jeans, and refusing to hand them in to anyone who offers to donate them for me. Levi's become a second skin, every pair I own, I cherish as a part of me, the parts that have seen love, the parts that have seen early morning walks on the beach, and the parts that have seen trial, triumph, and tears. These jeans especially have seen it all, from my dad to me, they will live the lives of many, and perhaps will continue to do so. My Levi's are my legacy. My Levi's are my second skin.
