What's Your Shade?

I recently teamed up with ShopStyle and Neiman Marcus to talk (beauty) shop and it made me think of when I first started wearing makeup. Girls in middle school were starting to load on the mascara, some girls even wore foundation (gasp) but I was just barely getting into blush and wore the thinnest layer of mascara, it was a big deal for me. Then eyeliner entered the picture around high school and my parents started harping on my makeup routine.

My dad cared for his skin with all of the best products, so his first instinct was to take me to someone who could teach me how to do make makeup like a classy young lady and treat me to a special experience. So right before my freshman homecoming dance we went to a beauty store and a makeup artist taught me all of the tricks I still use today! And guess what those are? Keep is light, keep it simple, and keep it brown, NO black eyeliner.

I rarely wear black eyeliner or mascara and I opt for a linewidth that starts off thin and gets thicker towards the outer edge of my eyelid. Then I finalize my look with a lip color. In high school I was one of the few girls rocking a red lip (it's my mom's signature) and sometimes I even wore nearly black maroon lips. It was so fun! But nowadays I look for something that I can wear every day (even though a classic red is a MUST). The Bobbi Brown Lip Color Trio is the perfect set for everyday wear. The shades go perfectly with my quick and easy makeup routine and I love how they're fun yet neutral.

Which color is your favorite?!  Soft Rose, Pale Mauve, or Salmon? I think I like Pale Mauve.

Plus, what do you think of the Rose Gold toner I tried in my hair? I'm digging it but love the versatility of a gloss that washes out of my hair, it's fun to see the changing color. But I am already excited to get back to something more natural so it's low maintenance.

The Pale Mauve was definitely my favorite color. It was the perfect shade to swipe on right before heading out the door with a messy bun.

With my new locks, I definitely have been having fun playing with my outfits and lip colors. The Soft Rose from the Bobbi Brown Lip Trio was a great shade to femme up my look.

Last but not least, the Salmon shade was a super fun one for a minimal look. It added a bit of edge and was perfect for a no maintenance side pony.

Count Me In, Co-ords.

How To Wear Co-ord matching separate outfits and how to wear culottes or palm leaf print by Bryn Newman of Fashion Blog Stone Fox Style. Missguided matching set co-ords and loafers by Everlane
If you know me, or have talked to me about fashion for at least .5 seconds, you probably know I am obsessed with matching separates. I mean it. Obsessed. I have been searching endlessly for the perfect set and more pieces are coming up slowly...so keep an eye out for those. But along the way this Missguided set was one of the first pant + top co-ords I stumbled across. It's been a long journey of finding the perfect set, and this one is pretty close. Paired with a long sweater and loafers, it makes a great outfit for a trendy workplace, like mine. Or wear it with strappy heels for an indian summer (for you San Francisco readers) weekend look.

TGIE // Thank God For Everlane and Piña Coladas

Bryn Newman of fashion blog Stone Fox Style talks about how to avoid a fashion mishap with Everlane's new Everlane Now delivery service.

Sometimes I don't like getting stuck in the rain (unless there are piña coladas) so when I bike to work and it gets super cold + foggy before my ride home, it's pretty much godsend I can get a jacket delivered to me in under an hour from Everlane. With the reintroduction of Everlane Now you can receive styles delivered to your door in an average of 39 minutes, if you're living in NYC or San Francisco.

I know, I can't believe it either. So I had to try it, even though it only drizzled for .2 seconds last week, I thought why not get a jacket to be prepared? BUT HEY with this hot San Francisco weather, I truly am sweating through all of my shirts, so bring on the perfectly cut (when you order them in a large) $15 tees!

SF & NYC get excited, because now can order Everlane Now and get tees, jackets, bags, and shoes delivered for those, "Seriously I just spilled coffee all over me, broke my heel and got caught in the rain without a piña colada," days.

What Every Woman Needs Now

Boho style on fashion blogger Stone Fox Style in San Francisco – how to wear falls top trends, flares, bell sleeves and tied neck scarves for fall fashion 2015.

This fall, every woman needs a pair of high waisted flares in her wardrobe. I searched high and low for a pair with the perfect wide leg and perfect rise. Finally I found these Current Elliot jeans on Poshmark, as soon as I tried them on I fell head over flares (har har har). But, as a lady who is a bit curvier in the hips but smaller in the waist, I had trouble finding the right rise with the right size waist. I wanted to stay away from a low rise but still needed something form past my booty (I feel so weird saying that). This pair is close to perfect and I definitely recommend them, but if anyone has suggestions on something that fits for curvy hips but small waists please comment the brand and style name below, I am still on the hunt!  I completed this look with a bell sleeve top from Charlotte Russe and a lady tie from Les Machantes.

Weekend Journal No. 1

As a member of Generation Y, I am one of those people who works. . .a lot. I work with the hope of living comfortably and being able to "retire young." Or at least for some reason that is engrained in my mind. Or it's just my personality, since I have never quite been able to sit still. I skipped a year of high school, dropped out of college, and went straight into the work world. And usually work at least one day a weekend and most week nights to keep this blog up and running. So weekends like this past one, remind me that being young isn't so bad, more so, they remind me that it is important to be inspired. It's important to recharge, see the world, dance, and laugh, so that you can feel inspired to create and be. We've been conditioned to work so hard, without appreciation. And at least for me, and many other creatives, without exploration, laughter, and inspiration, you won't find happiness. So even if work often helps deliver the need for creative stimulation, you still need to find ways to create new energy for your inner spirit. Otherwise, what's the point? So after a weekend of long mornings spent in bed, dreaming of vacations, looking into flights, reading fashion magazines, and loads of coffee, I began to remember the true importance of not working. Not shooting. Not styling. Not opening my computer. After a night of dancing and laughing to the point where my cheeks hurt I realized good friendships will always bring the most happiness. After stumbling into galleries and giggling at pretentious art shows. And finally, after truly dancing to good music (especially when it's dear friends). I realized, checking out, and really checking out, is the BEST way to spend a Saturday night. It was so fun catching up with my friends from SWIMM and meeting their new bandmates. So check them out and their new tunes below!

Obessions // Oak + Fort

Minimal Cool Style on Fashion Blogger Stone Fox Style wearing Oak + Fort and Everlane

Oak + Fort is one of those brands that I think of when I see a girl walking in The Mission and I think, "Woah, I want to be that girl, she's so simplistic but still looks too cool for school, how can I be her?" I look at their products and my heart clinches, sinks, and fills with joy, all at once. Why? because I want everything from their website. The branding is exquisite, the styling is unique yet takes minimal to the next level, and the product itself is impeccable. This jumpsuit fits like a glove, yet I could see how it would fit other body types perfectly as well. The pleats on the front flatter the body so you can go braless to show off the amazing back of the jumpsuit and the crop of the culotte-esque bottom make it so that you can wear the trend without feeling conscious of cankles. While that sentence may sound boldly blatant and vulgar in a sense, it's just purely true! I don't think I have ever owned a piece of clothing that I love as much as this jumpsuit. It makes me feel confident, stylish, cool, and makes me proud of my body, all because of one piece of clothing! #fangirl

The Comeback Skirt

Fall Fashion Trends for 2015 are lace-up tops and suede! San Francisco Fashion Blogger, Stone Fox Style, shows how to wear falls biggest trend; midi suede skirts.
Photos by Summer Wilson

All I am is saying is that this skirt just needs a moment, ya know? Kind of like culottes are having a moment, this skirt needs its very own moment. I guess suede is having a moment of its own. But I still can't get over this $12 thrift store find. AND it's REAL suede. Excuse me, but...like...what (in valley girl voice). Paired with this lace up top and simple white sandals, I think I just discovered a new outfit formula (who else is sick of that term though).

Palm Print Culottes

Culottes are all anyone is talking about these days. But honestly, they're really hard to style, so don't feel lost in this trend! I have been testing out a million different ways to wear them to give you guys all some inspiration as well as push my boundaries. Aka, get ready for the culottes posts. Also...this maxi button down top from Zara has sort of been my life force during the hot Indian Summer days of SF. I love being able to throw on an airy top over jean shorts that doesn't make me feel like I am in the nude (sorry I actually do not have blogger model body). But pairing these two pieces together really created a fashion forward look I did not expect, and am still, a little confused if I like it or not. So what do you think? Keep or delete? (joke) (sort of) (not really).
